Karen, why did you decide that Centenary Landscaping Supplies needed a new website?
Our website was 5 years old, it had been built in-house. It looked dated and the content was well out of date as it had not been refreshed for at least 21 months.
We had also previously tried to run an AdWords campaign. It was one big mess and just wasn’t working; we had decided that the medium was ineffective; the reality was that we didn’t understand how it worked.
Had you contemplated on building the new site in-house?
No, we didn’t have the time or expertise and we felt that even if we tried, we wouldn’t be able to create a truly professional result.
How did you hear about Mediaglue?
You came highly recommended by a relative who had used Mediaglue to build their site.
How did you find our approach?
Unique, as Mediaglue are as concerned with traffic and results as they are with the design.
What was the outcome?
They designed and built the new site, and then they trained us in how to run and maintain both the site and an effective AdWords campaign ourselves.
How were we to deal with in the process?
Willing to discuss options, you were open to ideas and were cooperative in both answering questions and contributing additional solutions.
In addition, Mediaglue’s “GiraffeCMS” Content Management System was flexible and easy to use.
From a personal perspective, the training took me from novice to highly competent. When talking with others, I realise the value of what Mediaglue taught me as others don’t know it.
What was the resultant impact on the business?
Remembering this was close to the height of the global financial crisis. We were faced with the decision; contract or get aggressive. We chose aggression.
As the direct result of the site and the AdWords campaign, the phones kept ringing constantly, sales levels were maintained and more importantly, no one lost their job.
We were also delighted with the consistent positive feedback about the site from both retail and trade customers. The comments kept coming both by email and in conversations.
It’s without a doubt the best website in the industry. Videos, blog, and social media – it’s got the lot!
Can you quantify any of this information?
Two years ago, the site was averaging 3,000 visitors per month, with 1,100 being regular repeat visitors.
As at June 2010, this had increased to 12,500 per month with 3,126 regulars. Of interest was that December 2009was our best sales month ever.
How would you describe your relationship with Mediaglue today?
Like a friend I can call on when I’m stuck. They are always there and they always have an answer, no matter how awkward or how out of left field it is.
