Design
Graphic design is the art of framing your message to look compelling and to generate a response. It’s more than just pretty pictures; it’s about how to attract the reader’s eye into the heart of your communication, to use colours and which pictures develop trust and desire.
Graphic design is the science of framing your message to look compelling and to generate a response. It’s more than just pretty pictures; it’s about how to attract the reader’s eye into the heart of your communication, to use colours and which pictures develop trust and desire.
It’s about looking good in print.
It starts with your logo and stationery and progresses through your uniforms, brochures, banners, signage, adverts, company profiles, and everything else you either print or wear.
Our world is visual
We live in a visual world; very few companies have ever succeeded with words alone. Very few have succeeded with poor graphics complementing their message. Doing it yourself with clipart and a basic desktop publishing package won’t cut it today. A cheap design, ill-conceived colour schemes, and poor representation will harm your image and be a detractor to prospects.
Design Vs Branding
Do not confuse graphic design with branding. They are very different. Branding is about what you represent. Branding relates to reputation, organisational culture, the promise made and the quality of service received.
Once upon a time, we didn’t know what Lego stood for. Now we immediately think of those indestructible little coloured bricks that always fit together perfectly. There was a time when we didn’t recognise the Golden Arches; Microsoft, Dell or IBM. They were all once unknown. Each of these companies has something in common; they all had to promote a story repeatedly before we accepted the logo as a symbol for something. That story was always framed with good graphic design and layout.
